First Year Officials On-Ice Sessions

In order to prepare for your first games in October, we will be holding two madatory on-ice sessions to instruct you on positioning, signals, skating techniques, etc (You must attend both!).

The on-ice sessions will be held on on the following dates:

  • Wed Sep 21 Walter Baker 'A' 9:00pm (Two-man System)
  • Tue Sep 27 Walter Baker 'B' 7:30pm (Two-man System)

You will be required to bring referee full gear. This includes referee sweater, black pants, CSA approved black helmet, CSA approved half visor, shin pads, elbow pads, skates with white laces, and ACME or Fox 40 whistle (no plastic whistles!!!).

It may get a little cold at the rink so wear something a little warmer under your ref gear. Also, you can bring black gloves to keep your hands warm. This will also be an opportunity for you to try out your ref gear to see if you are warm enough for the upcoming games, and make any equipment adjustments.

Three-Official System On-Ice Sessions

There will be two mandatory on-ice sessions on Introduction to Three-Man System to all second year officials, and to third year officials that have not attended the Three-Man system session last year. If you feel you need refresher on how Three-Man system works, you are welcome to attend as well.

The sessions are:

  • Thursday, Sept 15th - 8:00pm at Sportsplex-Yzerman
  • Monday, Sept 19th - 7:30pm at WB B

The second on-ice session will give you a chance to practice officiating the game as referee and linesman before officiating your first Peewee or Bantam game.

Remember that all second year officials must attend both sessions in order to be able to move up and officiate Peewee or Bantam games this year. For those that did not attend the Three-Man on-ice session last year, you will be required to attend.

If you cannot attend the session(s), it is important that you let Caise know as soon as possible.
