The Nepean Minor Hockey
Association Officiating Program is run by a seven-member
executive panel, and they meet regularly to discuss officiating issues
and concerns. Officials are reviewed by the officiating executive
in several ways.
Firstly, all officials must certify with Hockey
Canada at the start of each season by attending a clinic
and writing an exam. At these clinics, rule changes are emphasized,
along with a rulebook review, the review of officiating procedures,
and group discussion of different officiating concerns.
Throughout the year, officials attend regular meetings, complete
rule quizzes, receive supervisions and evaluations from more senior
officials, and a select group of them participate in a 'Program
of Excellence', officiating higher levels of competitive minor hockey.
The Nepean
Minor Hockey Association prides itself on having one of the
best development programs in the ODMHA.
